Old Highland has a CURA
intern working the neigborhood
Meet Candace Dow

This summer Ms. Dow is conducting a sidewalk
survey to document and photograph significant neighborhood
properties. Next year the project will elaborate further on the
history of the identified properties in the Old Highland
neighborhood story and publish the updated Walking Tour Guide.
This project is supported in part through student research
assistance provided by Neighborhood Planning for Community
Revitalization, a program of the University of Minnesota's Center
for Urban and Regional Affairs (CURA).More

"This is a beautiful new 3-bedroom
craftsman home built in the heart of the city. The winter of 2003 we
were looking for a home where we could live for the rest of our
lives, preferably in the city and with a yard. We had three
criteria: central A/C, a formal dining room, and to be able to look
outdoors from the kitchen sink. When we first saw our new home it
was far from finished. But the neighborhood was terrific and right
on a public transportation route. The night before we closed on
buying the house the realtor had an open house for the neighborhood
and we met 30 or 40 neighbors – this had not happened anywhere else
we had lived in the past 40 years. There are still homes available
in the area. Check us out!
