Victorian Built 1906
This grand Victorian is a perfect example of blending the old with the new, but making the new look like it’s old. The home was in disrepair, but it had a great floor plan and tons of space for improvements. As other homes we’ve had on Tour, it features the 98-percent-efficient hydronic in-floor heating throughout — really the only way to go to heat a home of this size. In this whole-house renovation, all mechanicals (electrical, plumbing, and HVAC) were replaced, while wiring for sound, Internet, and a security system. We gutted the kitchen and created a gourmet space that could be the envy of a home on Lake Minnetonka. We created the master suite with vaulted ceilings, walk-in closet and full bathroom. The exterior has been renovated as well, with two decks, restored front porch and garage. Come see this gem for yourselves!

Craig and Romelle Pier
It has been 20 years since we were last on the Tour. Since then, we added a two-story addition to the back, which included remodeling a second-floor bathroom, first-floor kitchen and mudroom; completed the third-floor attic into a great room, guest bedroom and bath; and expanded the garden through the addition of a retaining wall. We’ve done minor projects, too. Of course, the house retains much of the original splendor of its beautiful woodwork and detailing throughout the main floor. The Great Room has become a major family gathering place for the holidays. It has a great view of the city and it’s a good place to watch fireworks on July 4th. Although it is over 100 years old, this is still one of the greatest houses around!
